Many people can probably remember 20 years ago when a company called NordicTrack came out with a piece of exercise equipment that would allow those wanting to get fit to simulate the skiing motion in their living rooms. The NordicTrack skier became a hugely popular way to get fit.
In the ’90s NordicTrack began to develop other kinds of fitness equipment and found another niche with their treadmills. The company’s knack for making state-of-the-art, comfortable to use machines has made them one of the biggest names in exercise equipment.
A good cardio vascular workout is well known to be the major ingredient in a successful weight loss program. A treadmill workout is guaranteed to get your heart rate up and your muscles working. NordicTrack has at more than a dozen different models of treadmills from which to choose. If you are on a budget, you can get one for under $700. If money is no object and you want that best exercise experience you can get, there are models with every possible feature imaginable for around $5,000.
Some of the more affordable NordicTrack treadmills include the Fuel FT94. It comes with five preset workouts and allows you to input two workouts that you design yourself. It can incline to 10 different levels and has 10 buttons that control the speed of the treadmill and the amount of incline. The NordicTrack T7 SI treadmill has a customizable shock absorbing system to reduce impact. It comes with 12 workouts designed by a Certified Personal Trainer. Workouts cards plug into the console and automatically adjust the incline and speed while the trainer’s voice takes you through your workout. Both of these treadmills have a 2.25 horsepower motor.
NordicTrack has a series of treadmills that have a “reflex” cushioning system. One such model is the NordicTrack Reflex SR. The system has even more cushioning than other models to absorb the impact as you run. This model comes with 20 personal trainer workouts and it allows you to create four of your own workouts. An exciting feature of the treadmill is the weight-input feature. Enter your weight into the treadmill’s computer and it calculates how many calories you are burning. It also comes equipped with an easy to use heart rate monitor.
The NordicTrack Perspective treadmill has “QuickSpeed” buttons to easily change speed and incline settings. As do other models of NordicTrack treadmills, the Perspective comes with a built-in TV and speakers. Besides watching TV while you work out, this option lets you track your workout with via displays on the TV’s screen. This model folds down to fit easily under your bed.
If you like to run uphill, the NordicTrack Incline Trainer X3 Interactive is the treadmill for you. It can incline from 0 to 40 degrees and work every muscle in your legs. If you are a hiker or a climber, this is great feature. It comes with nine built in climbing workouts. Because of the steep climbing feature, this treadmill has a larger, 2.8 hp motor so that even at the steepest incline you reach speeds of 10 mph. It, too, includes a heart rate monitor and the cushioning system. This treadmill also has an iPod dock.
